Neve ParitzkiJerusalem's first cycle tunnel has been opened in Israel

The Kerem Tunnel is a great spot to hike and ride.
נווה פריצקי As part of the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that surrounds Jerusalem's capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza.  נווה פריצקינווה פריצקי It is located in southern Israel located in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.



On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists were present at a celebration to officially open the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Elkin's ministry, which also in charge of the project together alongside Jerusalem Municipality, declared that his ministry "invests hundreds and millions of shekels each year in all aspects of Jerusalem’s tourism, and also in the creation of innovative attractions and ventures, which connect the glorious historic past of our eternal capital and its future." I invite cycling enthusiasts to come and enjoy a modern and well-maintained cycling route that takes in the unique nature of Old Jerusalem."

Elkin's Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25 million to the project.  נווה פריצקי The project was executed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is a central tool for realizing the goal to alter the notion of transportation in Jerusalem," Elkin stressed. "The new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. It will connect with the various cycling routes that exist within the city. The paths will be paved in its diverse neighborhoods. The goal is to promote cycling among residents of the city.

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the late 90s to relocate a main sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel that includes the fifth waterline to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.

Construction of roads, installation, blowers, advanced safety systems , and electrical wiring are all part and parcel of the present work. The tunnel will be safe for the public to use throughout the year.

Kerem Tunnel Kerem Tunnel provides access to exclusive recreation spots, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the biblical aquarium and zoo , as well as the natural springs of historical significance Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
